it seems that simply leaving room for us to be human is half the battle. this brilliant story on Co.Design, ostensibly designing for children to boost creativity, has plenty more lessons for the rest of us. leaving the answer open-ended, not creating closed systems, and... oh, the joy of lighting up a child's life with a connection to the real impact he can have. i can only imagine where this kid goes next. and, better yet, where all the rest of us head if we start designing for each other in open systems. one of the brilliant comments on the apple brand over more recent the years is that it leaves room for you to find yourself in it. in fact, it spends most of its energy getting out of your way rather than being a thing unto itself. as we all blather on about how great apple is, perhaps we should be talking a lot more about what it isn't.
